The biggest Romanian food industry conference and expo was organised in an online form due to the pandemic.
WESSLING Romania participated in the event as an exhibitor and patrener, and our Hungarian colleague, Dr. Szigeti Tamás János was invited to give a presentation.
The key topic of the Roaliment organised in mid-May was the hazards and advantages of the current situation for the food industry. The event lasted for 4 days, and presented the main sectors of the industry (meat industry, dairy products, food supplements, baker’s products, etc.), and among others, it dealt with the current questions of raw materials, packaging, production, quality, authorisation, technology and innovation.
The participants were the biggest Romanian food chains, producers and distributors, and laboratories. Nicoleta Simion, marketing director of WESSLING Romania presented the company group, the Romanian activities, and besides the food examinations she talked about product certification and our extertise for environmental issues for factories.
Dr. Szigeti Tamás János, business development director of WESSLING Hungary Kft. gave a presentation on the mineral oil contamination of packaging materials. He commemorated his Romanian colleague, Marian Ristescu, who was his fellow representative for 5 years at this event, and tragically passed away recently.
The Hungarian expert explained that almost all of the whole distillation family, from the oil gas through gasoline and kerosene to bitumen, may get into food. The presentation revealed why it is difficult to examine the mineral oil components, why benzene can easily integrate into any other molecule, what monocyclic and polycyclic aromatic compounds are, what the gas chromatograph of mineral oil fraction looks like, and what the often heard MOSH, MOAH and POSH abbreviations mean.
