Sustainability at WESSLING: Our Path to the Future

At WESSLING, sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy and our internal and external work processes. Our international team works together to continuously implement our high standards ecologically, socially and corporately.

Sustainability is not a state achieved once and for all. Rather, it is a path that we as a company have been pursuing for years together with our business partners and employees. Not only are economic and regulatory criteria relevant, but also ecological, social and societal.

Transparent sustainability and ecological orientation: With our declaration of conformity according to the German Sustainability Code (GSC), WESSLING makes its sustainability performance transparent. We are as committed to the social and health concerns of our employees as we are to quality, safety and environmental protection.

Learning connects and promotes sustainability awareness

The idea of WESSLING as a learning company promotes sustainability through knowledge management and learning culture, a participatory value-oriented management style and a high sense of responsibility of each individual. Our awareness of third-party requirements is supported by this corporate culture and further developed through training.

Consequently, we are equally sensitive to the expectations of business partners, public authorities and employees. Value-based employee management and regular exchange – transparent and across the different organisational levels – are of central importance here.

Focus on sustainability and health

Health is a valuable asset. WESSLING operates in accordance with the requirements of an occupational health and safety management system and has been awarded the "Safe with System" seal of quality of the Raw Materials and Chemical Industry Trade Association (BG RCI). The importance of health protection is also reflected in the family-friendly personnel policy.

Resource efficiency through actively practised quality management

Our actively practised quality management system ensures that appropriate processes also lead to optimised use of resources (DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025). In addition, WESSLING works for clearly defined operating divisions according to the specifications of an integrated environmental management system in pursuant to DIN EN ISO 14001. It forms the basis for the continuous improvement of environmental performance.

We are actively committed to reducing resource and energy consumption and monitor this through regular energy audits according to the specifications of DIN EN 16247. A combined heat and power plant (CHP) with absorption chiller and district heating network is in operation at the company headquarters. WESSLING is a founding member of the company network in the association “energieland2050 e.V.”, which focuses on climate protection and sustainability.

We are constantly improving ourselves by sensitizing all employees to the topics of sustainability and environmental protection through offers such as the service bicycle and the Jobrad lease bike, the reduction of private transport in planning meetings, and the use of the Bahncard railway ticket discount system. The company vehicle fleet is being ecologically optimised, including in terms of procurement, setting consumption requirements, emissions, and monitoring of consumption values.
