WESSLING Romania, a company with a majority German capital, is one of the top Romanian companies with good results in the field of environmental protection and food safety. Ioan Hasegan, general manager of WESSLING Romania, gave us some details about the company's activity in 2019.
What have been the most important stages of WESSLING Romania's activity so far?
The Romanian WESSLING adventure began in 2003, when we opened the first environmental analysis laboratory in the heart of the country at Targu Mures.
Attention to the needs of our partners has determined that in 2007 we will complete the environmental analyzes with the part of consulting we perform at the highest level, from the point of view of the professionalism and the legislative support in the field of environmental protection that we offer to our partners. We are recognized by the Ministry of the Environment by registering in the National Register of Environmental Protection Studies Developers.
In 2013 we opened a WESSLING laboratory in Bucharest, thus covering the field of food analysis, from chemical analysis of food to microbiological and analysis, thus completing THE UNIQUENESS OF WESSLING on the Romanian market – to offering 3 services from a single source.
In 16 years of activity we have tried to adapt ourselves permanently to the requirements of the market and the legislation in this field. We developed methods and purchased the competitive equipment of the highest demands of the market we activate (food and environment).
Human resource is a key factor and a continuous challenge. We couldn't get here without the specialists who work for us. Together we took the business to what WESSLING means in Romania today: professionalism, trust, independence and impartiality.
Let’s tell us about the lines of activity of WESSLING Romania.
Through the Environmental Business Units we provide analyzes of water, soil, waste, determinations at work places, measurements of emissions, emissions and noise level, measurements of dangerous substances, services for agriculture. We are the first environmental laboratory in the Romanian market to offer calibration services for continuous measurement of pollutant emissions.
The Food Safety Business Units carries out a wide range of food and feed analyzes, such as physico-chemical analyzes, sensory tests, residues and contaminants, molecular and microbiological biology analyzes, analysis and consultancy for food contact materials.
With our third line, we provide consulting for the management of the Environmental Authorization, we carry out Impact Assessment Studies, Environmental Balances, Site Reports to obtain the Integrated Environmental Authorization, Appropriate Assessments for projects with potential impact on Natura 2000 sites and other services. We approached the 16 years full with challenges with a team of over 80 specialists in various fields, led to our growth as a company and thus we obtained in 2018 a turnover of 8.8 million lei.
Through collaborative relationships with similar laboratories in the WESSLING group and with other specialized laboratories in Europe, we can offer a complete range of analyzes for both environmental protection and food and feed.
What have been the most important projects you have worked on in recent years?
As important projects I would mention the projects of ecological remediation of the historical pollutants from Petrom (wells, deposits, etc.), or from the industrial platforms Petrobrazi and Arpechim, but also from the industrial platform of the former Hunedoara Steel Combined. We had partnerships with the engineering companies that modernized most of the drinking water plants and wastewater treatment plants in Transylvania. We have been partners with the companies that designed them and we are still partners with the companies that operate compliant waste deposits, but also with the administrative units that manage closed non-compliant deposits. We have been partners with the companies that have conducted environmental audits for the privatization of large industrial objectives (Daewoo-Ford, the Steel Company Red Steel-Ductil Steel).
To conclude in few words: we have been, we are and we will be reliable partner of those who want to make real and sustainable projects on the Romanian market. We will never do a rebate from our strengths - Independence and impartiality - to benefit from some financial advantages.
